Coffee of the week - #19-16

New week, new partner. We are stilla ble to find and connect with new roasters, but not without your help and recommendations. Our first taste of the Lund roaster was at Pascal in Stockholm. Love Coffeeroasters was found by Daniel Remheden 16 years ago, and he has been the Swedish barista champion several times. 

 Often when we source our coffee we have to trust the roaster, but you also have asked for natural coffees. Luckily they had just landed a new natural from Yirgacheffe, representing this week´s coffee. Idido is a small cooperative just east of Yirgacheffe. About 1000 smalhold farmers from seven communities deliver their coffee to the cooperative. 

 

Expect a super fruity medium bodied coffee with hints of strawberry. Usually we find the natural coffees to work best on a V60 or Chemex, whereas it might be too intense on an aeropress. And if you own an espresso machine, don´t miss the flavour profile of this fantastic coffee in a 30ml cup.

Second out is the Kenyan Muthuthi-Ini. This is the first time Love have this coffee and probably not the last. The Gikaru Farmers Co-operative Society consists of about 650 small scale farmers in the classical Nyeri district. Farmers deliver their lots to the Muthuthi-ini factory for processing and sorting. This area has a rich volcanic soil and coffees grow highly elevated with the snowy slopes of Mount Kenya in the backdrop. Fresh river water from Lake Tana is used for fermentation and the coffee is sundried on raised beds.

 

It is a total blast on the aeropress with an exceptional clean cup with taste notes of rhubarb and raspberries.
