Coffee of the week - #06-17

It has almost become tradition, March means Kamiro! This time it is roasted by Jørgensen Kaffebrenneri, the most Northern coffee roasters in the world?

 

Little more than one year ago we had a coffee from the same project, Motherland Farmers,  but roasted by Supreme Roastworks. This is a project that was started in 2011 by a man called Fred Kasigwa together with a group of Norwegians. Fred inherited a farm in the Nyamagabe district, but soon found out that the farmers in the area lacked the skill and financing to initiate coffee production. Therefore he started a washing station for the close to 1000 farmers in the area and himself. The area was hit hard during the genocide in the early 90’s and the washing station has been a positive contribution for the unification thereafter, also increasing living standards in the area. Not only being a great social project, they have a strong focus on sustainable farming and use “home made” mulch as fertilizer for the coffee trees. And of course, they produce great coffee!

 

This week´s coffee is washed and the variety is local bourbons, picked in July 2016. We find it to have a rather sweet taste with clear taste of raspberries. Recommend you to try it both on V60 and Aeropress. We welcome Jørgensen onboard and look forward hearing your feedback!
